Linking PAN With Aadhaar? Income Tax Website Crashes, Users Demand Extension
Since the mandatory linking of PAN (Permanent Account Number) with Aadhaar expires today, March 31, 2021, users across India rushed to the Income Tax website to complete the task. Like every other deadline, several people have been hoping for another extension until the very last minute.
However, since the new Income Tax rules take effect on April 1, it is mandatory to link one's PAN with their Aadhar number by March 31.
However, as the traffic on the Income Tax Department's official website increased around 12.30 p.m., the page crashed, leaving users confused by the broken connection.
Today is the last day to file your Income Tax Return (ITR) if you haven't already. The deadline to register your ITR for the fiscal year 2020-2021 is March 31, 2021.
According to the law, if you do not link your PAN to your Aadhaar by March 31, 2021 (Wednesday), your PAN will become inactive and you may be fined Rs 1,000.
