    Why steel stocks are showing resilience amid weakness in broader market

    According to Morgan Stanley’s regional analysts, Chinese supply cut may be up to 2.3%, twice than the earlier expectation.

    A strong rebound in demand and supply cuts in China owing to environmental concerns are major factors keeping the steel prices buoyant.

    ET Intelligence Group: Steel stocks including Tata Steel and JSW Steel hit a 52-week high on Wednesday despite weakness in the broader market following a sustained buoyancy in international prices of the commodity. Other sector stocks such as SAIL and Jindal Steel and Power trade near their respective peaks. Analysts expect the trend in prices to continue. Over the past week, these stocks have gained 8-13%.
