Realme GT Neo camera-focused flagship launched with 64-megapixel cameras, prices start at around Rs 20,000

Realme, earlier this year, said that it will launch two flagships a year going forward and the GT Neo is the second one for this year.

Realme GT Neo comes in three colourways.

Highlights

  • Realme GT Neo is the brand new smartphone that brings a 64-megapixel camera.
  • The GT Neo is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 1200 processor inside.
  • This phone is Realme's second flagship phone this year.

Realme GT Neo is the brand new flagship from the company that earlier this year outlined the new strategy wherein it will launch two flagships a year. The first flagship is the GT 5G that came a few days back. And while the GT 5G was centred around the maximum performance you can get on an Android phone -- thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset, the GT Neo is a camera-centric phone, according to Realme. Realme GT Neo brings the 64-megapixel Sony IMX682 processor accompanied by two more sensors on the back. And this phone uses the brand new MediaTek Dimensity 1200 processor inside.

To be a camera-centric phone means the phone has to offer more than what the rest of the phones have. Realme is relying on the Sony IMX682 sensor to take on the competition. And this is the same sensor that you get on the pricier Realme GT 5G. There are a few optimisations done to the camera app of Realme UI 2.0 in accordance with this new sensor. There is a 16-megapixel camera on the front of the Realme GT Neo. And the rest of the specifications are very much like what you get on the X7 Pro. The biggest difference is the processor. Before talking about the specifications, let me walk you through the pricing of the GT Neo.

Realme GT Neo price

Realme GT Neo costs CNY 1,799 (roughly Rs 20,000) for the 6GB RAM, 128GB storage variant, CNY 1,999 (roughly Rs 22,300) for the 8GB RAM, 128GB storage variant, and finally, CNY 2,299 (roughly Rs 25,700) for the top model with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. The phone comes in Silver, Black, and Gradient colours. And this design is very different from what you see on the GT 5G. The sale in China starts April 8 via online websites.

Realme GT Neo India launch

It is highly likely the Realme GT Neo will arrive in India. The phone has a model number RMX3031 and tipster Mukul Sharma claims to have spotted this on the websites of the Bureau of Indian Standards and the IMEI database of India. This is a strong indication that GT Neo is in the pipeline for the India launch.

Realme GT Neo specifications

The Realme GT Neo is termed the camera-specific phone so let us talk about the cameras first. Apart from the main 64-megapixel Sony IMX682 sensor, you have an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor and a 2-megapixel macro sensor on the back. Realme has suddenly ditched the fourth sensor on most of its phones and that may have a neutral result. These sensors work in tandem with the improved camera app. For selfies, the Realme GT Neo brings a 16-megapixel camera inside the punch-hole on the display. The GT Neo uses a 6.43-inch Full-HD+ Super AMOLED display with support for up to 120Hz refresh rate.

Powering the Realme GT Neo is an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 1200 processor inside, coupled with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. And in case you want more storage, you can add a microSD card to this phone. The phone has 5G connectivity on both SIM card slots in China. It runs Android 11-based Realme UI 2.0 out of the box. Backing the Realme GT Neo is a 4500mAh battery inside with support for 50W fast charging. Notably, the Realme GT 5G uses 65W fast charging instead. But much like the GT 5G, the GT Neo uses the GT mode and VC Cooling technology for when the loads are high. The Realme GT Neo is 8.4mm thick and weighs 179 grams.
