IPL 2021: Harbhajan Singh to both play for KKR and commentate in IPL 2021? Fans wonder after his tweet

IPL 2021Former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, who will be playing for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the upcoming season of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, has decided to get into the groove for the big event by, well, grooving to a song.

Bhajji, as Harbhajan is popularly known, was seen dancing euphorically with Jatin Sapru, a sports presenter with Star Sports – the broadcasters of IPL – in a video uploaded on his own Twitter account.

The message along with the video reads: “IPL 2021 coming, @jatinsapru @StarSportsIndia @IPL  how’s the josh ??”

What has got a lot of people confused is whether this video means that Harbhajan would also be acting as a commentator during this season. The fact that he is dancing with a member of the commentary team and that he has tagged Star Sports in his tweet is leading to such speculations.

Harbhajan was part of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team till the last season but didn’t get to play a single match in the 2020 edition of IPL. He was later released by CSK and picked up by KKR.

However, the legendary off-spinner has also been a member of commentary teams during some of India’s series in recent times. Hence, one does wonder whether he is hedging his bets and looking beyond what could be his last season in the Indian Premier League.

After being picked by KKR, Harbhajan expressed his happiness at the opportunity to play for KKR but also expressed his regret that none of his team’s matches will be played at the iconic Eden Gardens – the ground where he created history by becoming the first Indian to take a Test hat-trick in the memorable 2001 Test.

However, the man with 400+ Test wickets for India may not get into the KKR playing XI easily. He will have to fight for a spot with four other spinners in the squad – Kuldeep Yadav, Shakib al-Hasan, Varun Chakravarthy, and Pawan Negi.

With so much competition, no wonder Harbhajan wants to stay in touch with the broadcasters as well. This could be a good back-up plan.
