Hyderabad: To increase the distribution of Covid-19 infections, Rachakonda police have begun imposing fines on those who do not wear face masks, in addition to doing innovative programs that seek to create awareness.
The police investigations carried out in public places, shopping areas and fines imposed on buyers and shop owners. The Jawaharnagar police made a special trip within their limits and imposed a fine of Rs each on 20 people.
‘The special drives have not yet begun in full force. These people were penalized as part of an effort to create awareness among citizens, ‘said Jawaharnagar Inspector P Bikshapathi Rao.
Wearing masks is one of the most important interventions to prevent Covid-19 infection and is mandatory in all public places, workspaces and public transportation across the State. Any deviation in this regard entails prosecution under sections 51 and 60 of the Disaster Management Act 2005 and section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (disobedience to order duly promulgated by a civil servant).
Meanwhile, police in Saroornagar have fined 18 people found without a face mask.
In Kothapet, traffic inspector Nagamallu and his team organized an awareness program by involving a cultural group that has the importance of wearing a face mask, washing hands regularly, using disinfectants and maintaining social distance. Dressed in their usual clothing, the artists conveyed the message that they must take precautions and the consequences if they do not adhere to the Covid19 safety standards.
Kushaiguda, ACS, K Shiva Kumar, along with his staff participated in an awareness program and advised citizens to wear masks and take precautions at ECIL crossroads. Officials have said from now on that regular investigations will take place in the police station to identify and punish the perpetrators of the ‘Mask On’ policy.
