TDP leaders commemorate the party’s 40th anniversary

Amaravati: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders on Monday commemorated the 40th anniversary of the political outfit since its inception in 1982.

“I am very pleased to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the TDP established by the great leader NT Rama Rao (NTR) for the self-respect and support of weaker sections,” said Nara Lokesh, the national secretary general of the party, said.

He thanks all the party cadres for standing up for the poor sections of society all these years.

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) was founded on 29 March 1982 in Hyderabad by NTR.

Rao was born on May 28, 1923 in the town of Nimmakuru in Krishna district. He studied BA at Andhra Christian (AC) College in Guntur and for decades became a legendary actor who ruled the Telugu film industry.

He later founded the TDP and came to power in just nine months.

On Monday, the party’s state president Kinjarapu Atchannaidu commemorates the celebration of the party’s 40th anniversary in Tirupati.

He raised the flag of the party in the presence of several party leaders and cadres in the Tirupati parliamentary constituency, which will soon be serving for by-elections.

Meanwhile, TDP Supremo and former Prime Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said the party was formed with inspiration from, among others, Gurajada Apparao, Potti Sriramulu, BR Ambedkar.
