NTPC Ramagundam promotes poultry farming in the backyard

Peddapalli: To encourage poultry farming in the backyard, NTPC-Ramagundam handed out chicks to women from three self-help groups on Monday under its corporate social responsibility.

Backyard poultry farming is increasingly providing rural families with both nutrition and financial support in India. Poultry farming in the backyard mainly involves rural chicken birds such as Vanaraja, Aseel, Kaveri, Chhabra, Giriraja, etc.

As a pilot project, NTPC in collaboration with Sahay eVoice distributed Kaveri chicks among 30 members of three SHGs to promote poultry farming in the backyard.

The general manager (technical services), NTPC-Ramagundam, PK Laad, along with other 50 Kaveri chicks handed over to each member during a program held in the vocational center on Monday.

During the event, Laad asked the SHG members to care for the chicks in a scientific and sustained manner to supplement their earnings.

Sahay eVoice will provide the necessary support to the members of SHG. Ten members each from Sri Anjana Swashakthi Mahila Saving Society, Sri Rama Mahila Saving Society and Lavanya Mahila Saving Society received the chicks.

At the event, the SHG members also received training on poultry farming in the backyard. CSR officials led by the Deputy General Manager (HR-CSR), DS Kumar, the Sahay eVoice team led by Harikrishan KL and others were at the event.
