Hyderabad: The television program host Teenmaar Mallanna, who gave the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) a hard fight in the recent Legislative Council election, said on Sunday he did not intend to run a political party.
Mallanna, real name C. Naveen Kumar, also explained that he would not contest next month’s election to the seat of the Nagarjuna Sagar assembly.
His explanation comes amid reports that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) approached him to dispute his ticket.
At a meeting of his supporters in the Medchal district, he announced that he was going to undertake a 6,000 km long padyatra. He also stated that he would set up Teenmaar Mallanna teams at state, district and constituency level. However, he said he would not form a political party.
However, during the recent election to the constituency, Mallanna graduated Nalgonda-Warangal Khammam of the Legislative Council gave terror to the TRS by contesting as an independent. He wrapped up RAF candidate P. Rajeshwar Reddy with a hard fight and finished second with 1.49 lakh first and second preference votes.
However, Mallanna does not intend to form a political party or to challenge Nagarjuna Sagar, but he said he would work to satisfy the rule for the ruling party.
He is working on launching an aggressive social media campaign against the TRS, claiming that it could not fulfill the aspirations of the people in the new state.
