Hyderabad: Former Member of Parliament Konda Vishweshwar Reddy said there is an urgent need to establish a new regional party in Telangana. People have become disillusioned with Congress, Reddy said.
In the media, Reddy said the TRS could be challenged by founding a new regional party. Wherever two strong regional parties exist, the people of such a state have progressed, Reddy said.
“The Congress party could not offer an alternative to the TRS in Telangana, allowing many party leaders to join other parties,” Reddy said.
Reddy, who recently resigned from Congress, said he would consult his supporters for the next three months to get his plan of action out. He indicated that he could form a regional party or fight the election as an independent candidate. He also referred to the poor performance of Congress in the recent Graduate MLC election.
“Congress must change its political discourse and strategy. Despite the fact that TRS leaders take their oral offense, Congress is meek and passive. Only Revant Reddy is aggressive in his individual capacity, but it is unlikely to benefit the party, “said the congressional dissident leader.
On the new political party, Reddy said small regional parties should be merged to form it by forming an alliance with Congress and BJP.
“There is no question that I joined TRS or BJP,” Reddy said categorically. “Sharmila will not play a major role in Telangana politics,” Reddy said.
About TRS, Reddy said it became a father-son party. On joining Congress, Reddy said he would review the party situation over the next three months before making a final appeal.
