Jakarta: At least 14 people were injured Sunday in a suspected suicide bombing near a church in the Indonesian port city of Makassar, the capital of Sulawesi province, according to police.
National police spokesman Argo Yuwono told a news conference in Jakarta that an investigation into the perpetrators was underway, the Xinhua news agency reported.
The bombing took place outside the church at about 10.30am.
Two people allegedly rode a motorcycle and tried to enter the cemetery, but were detained by some security personnel.
Human body parts were allegedly found at the scene, but it has not yet been confirmed whether it belongs to the perpetrator or others.
The injured were rushed to hospitals and news material showed cars near the building were damaged when police cordoned off the area.
Churches have been targeted by extremists in Indonesia several times.
In 2018, dozens of people were killed when suicide bombers at Sunday services in the eastern Java city of Surabaya committed suicide bombings at three churches.
