MANGALURU: Karnataka home minister Basavaraj Bommai said that chappals were not hurled at the car of KPCC president DK Shivakumar in Belagavi.
Bommai, who was in Mangaluru on a private visit, told reporters that stringent action will be taken against those who take law into their hands. Reacting to the reports of BJP MLA Ramesh Jarkiholi’s supporters hurling chappals at KPCC president’s car, Bommai said they must have hurled it to the convoy vehicle.
“Chappals were not hurled on Shivakumar’s car. They must have hurled it to the convoy vehicle. I have directed the city police commissioner there to take appropriate action against those who take law into their hands. I have also directed the commissioner that opportunity should not be given even for silly incidents,” Bommai told reporters at the Mangaluru International Airport.
On the CD case, Bommai said, “It is not important for us what the Congress or any other parties say. We will conduct investigation as per law. Statements of people will have no place in the investigation. How did the Congress handle the case related Meti (alleged sex scandal involving former excise minister H Y Meti)? They have not booked case too. Hence, I do not give much prominence to the statements of Congress leaders.”
Expressing confidence in SIT, Bommai said, the SIT has efficient officials, who will work as per the legal framework.
“We will not be influenced by anyone. We have received many CDs, video and audio clips. All such evidence will be subjected to scientific studies. Since the case is under investigation, I will not comment much on it. However, I can assure you that we will not be influenced by any kind pressure,” he added.
