He did many dramas from Praja Natya Mandali. When he is studying in Ongole, due to his madness for movies without saying to any one he went to Chennai.

There in madras he knows none and hence he came back to his native place. Dharmavarapu Subhramanyam got selected as officer in panchayat Raj. With this he changed his home to Hyderabad. In hyderabad he used to stay in Dilshuknagar. While staying there he wrote dramas to Aakasavani and Doordarshan.

He acted in a tv serial named Anando Brahma and became very popular with this. After looking at his acting in this serial the great director Jandayala gave him a chance in his movie Jayyamu Nishayambura. From there his career graph increased and he never turned back.
He died in the year 2013. He always kept his sons away from film industry. His sons Rohith and ravi both were into business field. They have settled well in their business and leading a happy life.
