Hyderabad, Mar 28 (UNI) Without any respite, Telangana continued to add daily infection cases by registering 535 fresh coronavirus cases until 2000 hours on Saturday raising the state's COVID-19 tally to 3,06,339 so far.
The state recorded three fresh fatalities due to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the
death toll so far to 1,688, translating a case fatality rate of 0.55 per cent as against the countrywide mortality rate of 1.3 per cent, according to a state health department bulletin on Sunday.
The cumulative recoveries till date crossed the three lakh-mark to reach 3,00,156 after 278 people have recuperated from coronavirus statewide as of Saturday constituting a recovery rate of 97.98 per cent while the national average was 94.6 per cent.
The number of active cases in the state presently stand at 4,495 including 1,979 individuals in home or institutional isolation, the bulletin said.
A total of 57,942 samples were tested in the state between Friday and Saturday to detect the contagious virus out of which the results of 1,143 swab samples are awaited.
Cumulatively, more than one crore COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the state, thus far since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
Among the districts, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation continued to be the chief contributor of the infection by registering 154 fresh coronavirus cases in the past
24 hours followed by Medchal Malkajgiri (49),Rangareddy (39),Nizamabad (32), Sangareddy (22),Mahabubnagar (21),Yadadri Bhongir (19),Khammam (16),Karimnagar
and Jagtial 15 cases each,and Adilabad,Nalgonda and Warangal Urban 11 infections each.
The remaining coronavirus cases of the day have been registered by other districts,the bulletin added.
