New Delhi: India won a silver medal in the men’s 25-team Rapid Fire Pistol team event on Sunday.
The Indian team of Gurpreet Singh, Vijayveer Sidhu and Adarsh Singh were beaten by USA in the final.
On Saturday, India’s teenage team of Vijay spring and Tejaswini won gold in the 25M Rapid Fire Pistol Mixed Team event on the ninth day of the ISSF World Cup rifle / pistol / shotgun.
They beat compatriots Gurpreet Singh and Abhidnya Ashok Patil 9-1 in a one-sided final.
India currently won 28 medals in the tournament, which includes 13 gold.
The host also leads the medal count far from the USA – second on the list with four gold, three silver and one bronze medal. Italy is third with two gold and two bronze medals, while Denmark is fourth with two gold and one bronze to show their efforts so far.
Italian pair Alessia Iezzi and Valerio Grazini also won gold in the Trap Mixed Team competition, beating Slovakian Zuzana Rehak Stefecekova and Adrian Drobny 39-36 in the gold medal match. The Trap Mixed Team is an Olympic discipline.
Indian pair Sreyashi Singh and Kynan Chenai advanced to the bronze medal match in the Trap Mixed Team, after shooting 141 out of 150 in the qualifying round. They finished fourth among 13 teams and faced the Turkish combination of Yavuz Ilnam and Safiye Sariturk for a shot at a World Cup medal.
However, the Turkish pair, who were on a brilliant performance from Yavuz, who shot down 23 of the 25 targets, claimed the bronze, with the final score of 38-35 in their favor, after 50 shots.
