Mahindra Bolero has been one of the oldest cars still in production. Once upon a time, the Bolero remained the best-selling vehicle among all the utility vehicles in the market. However, with the rising competition, the Bolero is no more the best-selling UV.
Mahindra is now planning to rebrand the TUV300 as a Bolero Neo in the Indian market. It will be sold as the Bolero NEO to capture more customers and to take advantage of the Bolero name. Here is a rendering image that shows what the new Bolero Neo will look like when launched in the Indian market. The digital image is made by Shoeb R. Kalania for IAB.
The Bolero Neo in the rendered image indicates what the vehicle will look like in the production version. This image is based on the multiple spy pictures of the Bolero Neo testing across India for quite some time now. The image shows that the front-end of the vehicle gets a different design compared to the standard Bolero. The grille is new and so is the front bumper. It also gets a sleeker air dam. The design of the bumper is quite busy compared to the one that we see on the standard TUV300.
The major change in the front is the bumper and the grille. The grille now gets a different design with chrome highlights. Even the clamshell bonnet design is different and gets different creases too.
Overall, the design of the body remains similar to the standard TUV300. There is no change in the design of the body and the outline looks the same as the standard version of the Bolero. The wheel arches will get flared arches and surround the angled arches of the vehicle. Mahindra has also redesigned the rear of the vehicle with different-looking tail lamps and a new bumper. The tailgate-mounted spare wheel still remains in the same place for the Bolero Neo.
Engine options to remain the same
The Mahindra Bolero Neo will continue to get the same 1.5-litre, three-cylinder, mHawk diesel engine. It produces a maximum power of 100 PS and a peak torque of 240 Nm. Mahindra will offer a five-speed manual transmission. There will be no option of an automatic transmission, not even an AMT.
It should be noted that Mahindra Bolero is much more popular compared to the TUV300. The Bolero continues to sell around 5,000 units every month, which sure is a quite decent number. However, there is no information on the petrol engine’s availability.
Mahindra introduced the petrol engine to the all-new Thar, which is extremely high in demand in the market right now. The manufacturer has a new line of mStallion petrol engines and we may get to see the new Bolero Neo with a petrol engine too. Interestingly, the demand for petrol engines is on the rise, especially after the fuel price becoming almost similar in recent times.
