Three unsuitable cars in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Following the announcement by the Central Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the Telangana Road Transport Officials (RTA) began preparations to ward off the use of the old vehicles.

They started informing the people with vehicles over 15 years old that they should not drive.

Earlier, the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, announced the details of the vehicle clearance policy stating that the registration of commercial vehicles that do not have the fitness certificate and are 15 years old has been canceled. According to government rules, the ministry does not renew the registration of the 15-year-old cars from 1st April next year.

In Greater Hyderabad, it is estimated that there are 64 lakh cars, of which 3 lakh cars are considered unfit.

The purpose of the proposal is to deter motorists from driving these old vehicles that cause pollution and encourage them to switch to newer models.

However, vehicles such as strong hybrids, electric vehicles and alternative fuels such as CNG, ethanol and LPG will be released.

Meanwhile, the ministry has also approved the policy of deregistration and waste of vehicles older than 15. The vehicles that did not fail the fitness test will be considered ‘end-of-life vehicles’ and will be sent to the scrap yard.
