New Delhi, Mar 27 (UNI) Congress Member of Parliament Dr Amar Singh on Saturday said that he has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
"After feeling unwell at the end of the budget session, I got myself tested yesterday in Delhi. My Covid report has come positive today," Dr Singh said in a tweet.
He further said that he has isolated himself at his Delhi residence and urged people who have come in his contact to get tested and take precautions.
Dr Singh was recently in the news over his speech in the Parliament during a discussion on The Finance Bill, 2021. Later, in a rare note of bonhomie between the government and the opposition, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman appreciated the Congress parliamentarians words, saying that he dealt with things substantively and acknowledged “some good things”.
Dr Singh's Official secretary Deepak Bhardwaj told UNI that all of his staff, including him, have isolated themselves.
India on Saturday registered a record 62,258 new cases of COVID-19 during the past 24 hours, pushing the country caseload to 1,12,95023. In the same period, the country witnessed 291 deaths, mounting the death toll to 1,60,949.
