NEW DELHI:
Maharashtra on Saturday recorded a slight drop in daily Covid-19 cases and a marginal rise in Covid-19 deaths.
Maharashtra recorded 35,726
new Covid-19 cases and 166 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases to 26,73,461 in the state.
According to the state health bulletin, as many as 14,523 people recovered in the state from the disease in the said period. With this, the total number of recoveries in Maharashtra goes to 23,14,579 so far. However, the active cases of Covid-19 stand at 3,03,475.
The Maharashtra government has also announced a complete ban on holding of all types of gatherings, including political and religious.
The government ordered that restaurants, gardens and malls will remain shut between 8 pm to 7 am beginning Saturday night. People will also not be allowed to visit beaches during 8 pm to 7 am, an official order said.
Looking at the alarming rise in cases, chief minister
Uddhav Thackeray on Friday ordered night curfew in the entire state from March 28 onwards.
Meanwhile, Mumbai reported 6,123 new cases, its highest daily rise till now.
Dharavi, the biggest slum cluster in the financial capital, added 50 new infections in the day, which pushed its tally to 4,697, the
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (
BMC) said in a statement.
