Maharashtra bans events, restricts timing of shopping malls, restaurants

Mumbai: Struggling to catch the new boom COVID-19 affairs, the Maharashtra government on Saturday announced a complete ban on holding all kinds of gatherings, including political and religious.

The government has also ordered that restaurants, gardens and shopping malls stay between 20:00 and 07:00 from Saturday night. People are also not allowed to visit beaches between 20:00 and 07:00, an official order said.

Drama theaters will also remain closed from Saturday night. However, the government has released food delivery at night hours in its new set of guidelines.

“Meetings of more than five people are not allowed from 20:00 to 07:00 from midnight on 27 March. Violations will result in fines of offenders of Rs 1000 per person.

‘All public places, including gardens and beaches, will remain closed during the same period and offenders will be fined Rs 1000 per person. “If you do not wear a face mask, it will result in fines of Rs 500, while the same is an amount of Rs 1000 for public spitting,” according to the instruction.

It is said that the holding of social, cultural, political and religious gatherings in the state is completely forbidden.

Auditoriums or drama theaters should not allow their property to be used for such events, he said.
