Godzilla vs. Kong continues to stomp its way through theatres across the country, obliterating all obstacles in its way. Neither a mid-week release, nor the second wave of the coronavirus, and not even lockdown reinforced in certain areas in Maharashtra and Punjab, or night curfews, or 50% occupancy in theatres across Maharashtra could deter the audience from emerging for Godzilla vs. Kong. After a “monstrous” opening of Rs. 6.40 crore nett at the box office on a normal working Wednesday mind you, the two titans registered a fantastic hold of Rs. 5.40 crore nett on day two, Thursday, and backed it up with a similar hold of Rs. 4.22 crore nett on day three, taking hitherto its box office collection to a very attractive Rs. 16.02 crore nett in just three days, dispelling all notions that movies cannot work during this time due to coronavirus restrictions in place. The major collections have come from South territories where the coronavirus situations and ensuing restrictions aren't that severe, but that being said, Godzilla vs. Kong has performed better than both Roohi and Mumbai Saga released prior to it, proving that if a good movie, and particularly one offering that big-screen, 'bang for your buck' experience comes along, then moviegoers, and especially the family audience will come to the theatres. Godzilla vs. Kong 3-day collections will end up being more than Mumbai Saga's lifetime haul and its 5-day collection will be more than Roohi's final box office figure.
