Hyderabad: Makers of the seasonal delicacy, Haleem, plan to limit their seasonal business in light of the boom of Covid-19 affairs across the city.
About 2,000 registered restaurants set up shops during the month of Ramzan Haleem to do business like a number of calls. The delicacy also brings several people seasonal employment and their number increases annually.
Mohd Abdul Majeed, owner of Pista House, said this time they had not yet decided to set up temporary outlets across the city.
“Our plan is to restrict the sale of Haleem at only Pista House stores across the city,” he said.
A major setback for the Haleem manufacturers is the strike of large IT companies due to Covid-19.
Many IT companies place orders with popular Haleem joints every year. As most IT companies continue to follow ‘Work from Home’ standards, demand for the IT corridor could decline significantly, according to Majeed, who is also president of the Hyderabad Haleem Makers Association.
Last year, restaurants did not make the Persian dish due to the locks across the country. Restaurant owners say the cost of the plastic containers used for packing and delivering Haleem has risen this year, as the parcels most eateries are the new used.
“The prices of food and spices that were also used for the preparation of Haleem have increased several times over the past two years. So we have to calculate the production cost and determine the price, and again we have to make sure that the total quantity is sold and that there is no waste, ” says Mohd Irfan of Shah Ghouse Hotel.
In view of the increase in Covid-19 In those cases, the restaurant owners expect more parcels to be sold.
“Our focus is more on encouraging the ‘take away’ concept in the light of the current scenario. By the end of the month, most restaurant owners will decide, ”said Syed Shahnawaz, a Haleem producer from Jahanuma.
