Hyderabad: The doctors at Medicover Women and Child Hospital were able to rescue a premature baby girl, who was born when she was just 24 weeks and five days old. The child, who weighed only about 550 grams, was discharged from the hospital on Friday, which now weighs 2.5 kg.
According to the hospital, the baby was kept in the air, excubated on the third day after her birth and then kept on a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP). After a few weeks, CPAP support gradually declined and began cycling with CPAP and HFNC (High Flow Nasal Cannula). The baby is currently healthy and does not need ventilator support.
She also developed abdominal distance and tenderness and was also diagnosed with NEC (Necrotizing Enterocolitis). After treatment, however, her health improved.
‘Everyone on our team took great care to take care of the baby. She was very strong and managed to get through all the difficult days, ‘said dr. Ravinder Reddy Parige of Medicover Hospital said. He also thanked all the doctors as well as the parents of the child that they had dedicated the hospital to save the fragile baby.
