In business since 1976, the Acer of 2021 is the epitome of advanced technologies, with computers across the consumer, creator, gaming and business spheres, with new solutions "designed to meet the changing way consumers connect and consume technology – at the office, home, school or on the go."

Acer held its first live event for the technology media in 15 months earlier this week, thanks to the COVID pandemic that swept the world in 2020. iTWire was at that 2019 event too, which you can read about and see the full presentation of, here

The past year has also seen a significant increase in the number of people working or learning from home, the rise of flexible workplaces and a demand for hybrid working solutions, as we're all well aware, and this has seen people buying new computers - or at least, being offered them by the world's computer makers.

In 2021, most PCs are now equipped with 11th-gen Intel Core series processors, which promise more performance and much longer battery life than ever before, although as always, it depends on the type of computer you're getting, be it a thin-and-light model or one for gaming - battery life will vary depending on the uses your put your computer to.

In addition, some models still have 10th-gen Intel Core processors - you'll see the models listing the processors they have below.

Acer notes that as many Australians continue to navigate work, school and personal life in new capacities, our technology requirements and how we stay productive and connected is also evolving.

Thus, in response to that, Acer has introduced "a range of new products and updates across its portfolio in 2021 including the new Swift 5 – a light, modern and thin consumer laptop which features a world-first antimicrobial solution on its touchscreen, ConceptD 3 Ezel - a versatile and creative toolbox designed for creators on the go, the latest generation gaming technology - the Helios 300 and Triton 500 gaming laptops, and the TravelMate Spin P4, which combines mobility and performance in a highly compact, business-grade laptop."

Of course, every manufacturer always has new models to offer when the time is right, and this is when Acer has chosen to bring its new models to market.

Apple did so late last year with its M1-based range of the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and Mac mini, with more models to come, likely soon.

LG also launched its "Gram" models of very light notebooks, although it hasn't launched any with touchscreens in its second generation in Australia.

But this article is about Acer's new developments, along with the full video presentation of its launch of new models, which is embedded directly below, after which the from Acer's Oceania MD, along with a description of the new models is listed - please read on!

Darren Simmons, Oceania Managing Director, Acer said: During the pandemic last year, over 4.3 million people, or 32% of working Australians, worked from home. Many people, across several industries, demonstrated that when equipped with the right technology, they can successfully work from home, remain productive and be engaged.

“Hybrid ways of working and living is at the core of our collective psyche in the current climate, and this has accentuated the importance of technology in enabling connectivity, not only in the business sector but also across consumer, creative and gaming.

“Acer’s latest products demonstrate our commitment to innovation and adaptability and are purposely designed to enrich people’s lifestyles. As we look to the future and what a ‘new normal’ may look like, Acer is focused on enabling a world where hardware, software and services will fuse as one to unlock new possibilities for consumers and businesses alike,” Simmons continued.

Work or Play Anywhere with Swift 5

In response to COVID-19 and today’s environment, Acer has recently started offering notebooks, like the new Swift 5, with antimicrobial solutions to help protect consumers against germs and bacteria.

The Swift 5 features an (optional) Antimicrobial Corning Gorilla Glass touch display which means the surface can stay cleaner longer and is less susceptible to odour-causing bacteria. This is achieved via trace amounts of silver ions leaching to the glass surface to eliminate the surface bacteria while still offering other benefits such as improved durability and improved scratch resistance.

Note, Acer advises that "all microbial solutions including Antimicrobial Corning Gorilla Class do not claim to completely protect users or provide any direct or implied health-benefit."

Thin, lightweight, and premium in touch, the Swift 5 also offers portability and productivity in a sleek design. The laptop features a 11th Gen Intel Core processor1, Intel Iris Xe graphics and a fast-charging battery delivering up to 17 hours of power.

Whether Australian consumers are after a lightweight laptop for use on the go, at work or home, or a device to unleash their creativity or accelerate their gaming potential, Acer has an innovative product portfolio to meet individual needs. Similarly, Acer has a range of business notebooks or desktops to suit different workforces, giving Australian businesses access to the latest technology that aims to lift productivity and efficiency.
