Skoda India has confirmed that it will introduce the all-new Octavia in the Indian market in April 2021. The deliveries will start soon after that, according to Zac Hollis. Skoda has been testing the new Octavia on the Indian roads for quite some time now.

The all-new fourth-generation Skoda Octavia has become bigger than before. It is based on a tweaked MQB platform and is about 19mm longer and 15mm wider than the outgoing version. It also translates to bigger cabin space, more legroom for the rear passengers. Skoda has changed a lot in the all-new Octavia and has also added a new set of headlamps, which look like the Superb. The quad headlamps of the Octavia will not be available with the all-new version of the vehicle.

The Skoda Superb spotted testing in India looks exactly the same as the international version of the vehicle. This means, on the inside, the all-new Octavia will get similar updates as the international model. The cabin of the all-new Octavia will offer an all-new cabin layout. The dashboard is horizontally layered and is dominated by a set of digital screens. The all-new Octavia will also offer a new two-spoke steering wheel with knurled scroll wheels. The cabin will come with a beige-black theme that will add a sense of luxury to the cabin.

Octavia will continue to offer some cutting-edge technology. The driver will get a massive 10.25-inch all-digital instrument cluster, which Skoda calls the Virtual Cockpit. It also gets a three-zone climate control system, connected car technology, digital assistant, wireless phone charger and more.

Engine options

Skoda will not offer any diesel engine option with the upcoming Skoda Octavia. Just like all the other vehicles in its portfolio, the Octavia will get powered only by petrol engine options. There will be a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 190 PS.

Skoda may launch the 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with the Octavia too. The engine will only offer a 7-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission. Skoda has already confirmed that they do not plan to launch any diesel engine option in the Indian market in the future.

The launch of the all-new Octavia is delayed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and related lockdowns. The manufacturer will now launch the Octavia next month while the deliveries will begin in May 2021. The all-new Skoda Octavia is likely to get a price of between Rs 20-24 lakh, ex-showroom. Since Honda has discontinued the Civic, the upcoming Octavia will only take on the likes of Hyundai Elantra in the Indian market.

The Skoda Octavia is quite luxurious and offers a long list of features. With the Volkswagen Group’s new India 2.0 and Skoda India heading the strategy, the brands plan to launch a slew of all-new cars in the Indian market in the near future. Skoda will launch the first MQB A0 IN-based vehicle in the Indian market, which the brand unveiled a few days ago.
