In the most dramatic season to date, fans will once again be taken behind the scenes, to witness first-hand how the drivers and teams battle it out for victory in a year like no other. Fans will be given unprecedented behind the scenes access to the 2020 season which saw the sport dramatically halted in Australia due to the Covid-19 pandemic and make a thrilling restart in Austria later that year.
Intense battles, fierce rivalries, unexpected podiums and Lewis Hamilton’s incredible seventh world title will ensure the series is one of the most action packed yet.

It happened to me.
I don't want to sound dramatic, but it really happened. Over the timespan of one weekend I would discover a whole new side of me I never knew existed.
A love for motorsport.
Had you told me three years ago that I’d know every team and driver in Formula 1, I’d have laughed at you. I barely knew the sport existed. The only thing I knew about F1 was the name Michael Schumacher and nothing else.
Now I'm invested in what Daniel Ricciardo's first season with McLaren will look like, practice rounds, qualies on Saturdays, who takes pole on Sunday, and whether the Silver Arrows will maintain their dominance on the track as Ferrari struggles to keep up.
How did this happen?
Three years ago, a docuseries titled, Formula 1: Drive to Survive kept popping up on my Netflix recommendations. I wasn’t really interested but one lazy weekend, fresh out of things to watch, I thought I’d give the show a try.
My plan was to watch 10 minutes and call it a day.
By the end of the weekend I had binged the full first season. In less than 48 hours I had consumed a mass amount of information on a subject I didn’t think I’d be interested in. It was like being given a key to a whole new world I never knew existed.
There was a sense of excitement in discovering something new. It was thrilling to find out more about the sport that was wrapped in history, drama, and high-octane suspense.
I’d barely finished the last episode when I started doing further research, delving deeper, and exploring more. I’d just missed the 2019 Australian Grand Prix but picked up at the Bahrain GP at the end of March 2019 and haven’t missed a race since.
The first season was all about the underdogs. The pack in the middle. Unpacking and explaining the sport and those involved in making the magic happen. Ferrari and Mercedes didn’t feature much – I don’t think they had high expectations for the show and wasn’t keen on letting a camera crew follow them around in a sport that’s notoriously secretive.
This month the third season officially landed and it’s safe to say everyone is now onboard thanks to the show being a massive success. Even Canadian businessman and billionaire Lawrence Stroll, part-owner of the Aston Martin F1 Team, sat down to be interviewed.
Not only is Drive to Survive recruiting a whole new generation of F1 fans, but it’s also incredibly well-made and interesting to those who already love and follow the sport.
If you’re already an F1 fan then I don’t need to say anything more, you’ve probably already finished season three with it’s behind-the-scenes access to the 2020 season.
But, if you’re curious and a newb like I was, then give this show a go. You’ll soon be scheduling your weekends around three hours of TV.
