Hyundai’s Alcazar is expected to get unveiled on 7th April in Rajasthan. It is a new 7-seater SUV from the Korean manufacturer that will be competing against the MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari and the upcoming Mahindra XUV500. Recently, the images of the new SUV were leaked online which you can look at by clicking here. Now, after looking at those images, we have compiled a list of 7 key design changes that differentiate the Alcazar from the 2020 Creta.

Captain seat layout

The interior layout of the Alcazar will be different from the Creta. The Alcazar will be a 7 or a 6-seater depending on the variant you opt for. The 7-seater version will come with a bench seat for the middle row. You would also be able to opt for two captain chairs for the middle-row that will come with a dedicated centre console with armrest and two cupholders. This is the first time we are seeing a centre console for the rear occupants on a vehicle that comes with captain chairs.

Tail lamp design

The rear tail lamp design is drastically different from the one we have seen on the Creta. The Creta has a C-shaped LED running light for the tail lamps whereas the Alcazar’s lights are much bigger and get a different layout for the running light. The LED strip is placed in the lower surround of the tail lamps. Also, the tail lamps itself should comprises of many individual LEDs.

Front-end design

At the front, the basic design still resembles the Creta. However, it gets a different version of Hyundai’s cascading grille. There are many individual chrome pieces placed inside the grille. It also gets a chrome surround whose sides integrate with the headlamps that are the same as the Creta. In the lower half, there is a new slimmer faux skid plate and larger fog lamps. Overall, the front fascia of the Alcazar does look more premium than the one on the Creta.

New tailgate

At the rear, we get an entirely different tailgate that is more upright. The glass and the tailgate itself comes down steeply whereas on the Creta, the glass was raked. There is a chrome slat that joins the LED tail lamps. The ‘Alcazar’ is also spelled out on the same chrome slat and there are rear fog lamps placed in the lower half of the bumper.

Dimensions

The Alcazar will be longer than the Creta especially after the C-pillar. So, there will be a larger rear overhang which will help in accommodating the third-row of seats. It is still not confirmed if the Alcazar will have a longer wheelbase or not.

Bigger alloy wheels

The Alcazar gets different alloy wheels that are newly designed. The new alloys also look better and are also an inch bigger than the ones found on the Creta. For reference, Creta uses 17-inch alloy wheels whereas the Alcazar will be using 18-inchers.

Hyundai has revealed the interior sketches of the Alcazar. While the interior design is similar to the one found on the Creta. The upholstery and the chain theme is different than the Creta. In the sketches, the cabin is coloured in dual-tone theme of black and dark brown. Having said that, we think that this cabin theme will be available only on the top-end variants because in the earlier spy shots the upholstery of the Alcazar was finished in black and beige.
