Starro made his original debut in 1960's The Brave and the Bold #28, which also introduced the world to the Justice League. The original team assembled for the first time to fend off this cosmic invader, finally discovering their powerful foe has a weakness to quicklime... for some reason.

There's a reason Starro calls himself "the Conqueror." He and his kind travel the DC Universe seeking out worlds to conquer and civilization to enslave using their mind-controlling spawn.

The Justice League and other DC teams have battled Starro several times over the years, each time narrowly preventing a global takeover of psychic starfish.

Sometimes Starro grows large enough to terraform entire planets. Last time that happened, the Justice League had to turn to none other than Dream of the Endless to help save the world.

2009's REBELS introduced a major retcon to Starro's origin. It turns out the real Starro the Conqueror is a humanoid alien who turned the tables on his starfish invaders and bent them to his will.

Starro's story has taken a more heroic turn in recent years. Starro fought alongside the Justice League in 2018's Justice League: No Justice. He even sacrificed himself to save Brainiac's people.

Luckily, Batman saved a piece of the fallen Starro in a jar. That piece revived and became "Jarro," Batman's latest underage sidekick.

Jarro would love nothing more than to become the new Robin, fighting crime alongside his "Dad."

Starro hasn't made a proper live-action appearance yet, but he has appeared in various animated DC projects like Superman: The Animated Series, Batman Beyond and Batman: The Brave and the Bold.

Starro is finally making the jump to the big screen in 2021's The Suicide Squad. He looks to be one of several threats Task Force X has to face during its mission in Corto Maltese. But is he the true villain of the movie, or is he just part of the equation?
