Girl falls into manhole, rescued by Rachaconda police

HyderabadA 13-year-old girl, who slipped and fell into an open unused manhole, was rescued by the Jawaharnagar police patrol car staff here at midnight on Thursday.

The girl, a Class VII student and a resident of Jawaharnagar, walked home with her parents and missed seeing the open manhole. She slipped and fell into it, after which her parents called police on Dial-100. The control room immediately alerted the Jawaharnagar Patrol Mobile-1, after which the patrol guard personnel who were nearby rushed to the scene.

‘They reached the point within minutes when they were warned and pulled her out of the manhole. “She only had light bruises and was given first aid herself before she was handed over to parents,” said the police. Police also covered the manhole with a barrier to prevent further accidents.

Mahesh M Bhagwat, Rachakonda Police Commissioner, praised the cops for their timely response.
