Hyderabad: One dies in car crash near HITEX arch

Hyderabad: One person was killed and his friend injured when the car they were driving crashed into road media near the HITEX arch near Madhapur on Friday. Police suspect rash and negligent driving led to the accident. Doubts about drunk driving are also raised, and police are awaiting the autopsy report to verify this.

The victim was identified as Vishwa Tej (26) of Nellore of Andhra Pradesh, while his injured friend was identified as Ravi (25). Both were close friends and students of a private college.

According to Madhapur police, they arrived from Jubilee Hills to Madhapur in a car driven by Tej, who was allegedly in a drunken state. When they got close to the HITEX arch, the car, which was allegedly driving fast, got out of control and collided with the median in the road.

“While Tej died on the spot, his friend survived with some fractures,” police said, adding that it was still unclear if they were drunk at the time of the crash. A case of negligence causing death and injuries was discussed. If the autopsy shows that it was a case of drunk driving, the case will be changed, officials said, adding that the body was moved to the morgue of Osmania General Hospital and later handed over to the family.
