LUCKNOW: In the biggest single-day spike this year, 237 more persons, including 11 healthcare workers, tested Covid-19 positive on Thursday. The disease also claimed a life, taking the city toll to 1,197.
Highest 22 cases were recorded in Alambagh, followed by Indiranagar 18, Mahanagar and Gomtinagar 11 each, Madiaon 9 and Hasanganj 8.
A school in Mahanagar was closed for sanitisation by the district administration after it came to know that a student and a teacher had tested positive recently. “Rapid antigen tests of employees, including teachers done on the spot, came negative. The step was taken as a precautionary measure though the school authorities said that both patients were not coming to the campus for the past several days,” said an officer.

Several areas in the city, including a lane in Narhi and a building in Mall Avenue, was converted into contained zone after cases were detected from these localities.
The city’s tally has reached 83,524, of which 80,970 (96.9%) patients, including 31 on Thursday, have recovered.
