    Stock market update: Nifty Auto index climbs 2%; Tata Motors jumps 5%

    NEW DELHI: Nifty Auto index was trading higher at 02:01PM (IST) on Friday.

    Shares of Tata Motors (up 5.27 per cent), Ashok Leyland (up 4.74 per cent), Bharat Forge (up 3.83 per cent), Balkrishna Industries (up 3.46 per cent) and Bajaj Auto (up 2.97 per cent) were among the top gainers.

    While Amara Raja Batteries (down 0.72 per cent) was the sole loser in the index.

    The Nifty Auto index was trading 2.05 per cent up at 9849.55 around 02:01PM.

    Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 239.70 points at 14564.6, while the BSE Sensex was up 749.36 points at 49189.48.

    Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 47 were trading in the green, while 3 were in the red.

    Shares of Vodafone Idea, SAIL, PNB, Tata Motors and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

    Shares of Orchid Pharma, CDSL, Prism Johnson, JSW Steel and Godrej Ind. hit their fresh 52-week high in today's trade, while Jump Networks, Shrenik, B C Power Controls, Jiya Eco Products, Future Retail, Sanwaria Consumer, Future Supply Chain Solutions, Future Lifestyle Fashions, MT Educare and Tembo Global Industries hit fresh 52-week low in trade.
