Hyderabad: The National Meat Research Center (ICAR-NRCM) and the Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP) have established a partnership to facilitate collaborative research, training and expansion of meat packaging.
The Memorandum of Association (MoA), which is valid for five years and can be extended with mutual consent, was signed by prof. Tanweer Alam, director of IIP-Mumbai and dr. SB Barduddhe, Director of ICAR-NRCM at the NRCM office in Chengicherla, Hyderabad. on Wednesday.
The IIP is an autonomous body under the administrative control of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Government of India. ICAR-NRCM operates under the Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR) and is headquartered in Hyderabad. It aims to develop a more organized meat sector through meat production, processing and technology and for the benefit of meat producers, processors and consumers.
A joint press release by the IIP and the ICAR-NRCM states that NRCM will provide, facilitate, research and guidance for joint research projects that benefit both NCRM and IIP. It also shares expertise on applied research in various aspects of meat science and technology with postgraduate students, researchers and IIP staff. The IIP would in turn provide laboratory, library and field facilities for collaborative research in areas of mutual interest to NCRM staff from time to time.
Both organizations realized the importance of research and development in meat packaging, as well as training students to meet packaging to meet industry standards. They therefore agreed to enter into this partnership and to facilitate research and training programs for students as well as researchers.
Together, both organizations facilitate each other’s infrastructure and other facilities for scientists, faculties, researchers and students, undertake research-based, location-specific issues in line with each other, prepare joint research projects that benefit IIP and NRCM, and seek funding from outside agencies. . In addition, exchange visits by faculty members and scientists for academic and research purposes will be facilitated.
The NRCM will also allow postgraduate students to work on thesis-based programs for three to twelve months under the joint supervision of IIP and NRCM staff.
