
Parliament Live Updates: The Rajya Sabha has been adjourned sine die at the end of the Budget session of Parliament.
On Thursday, the Lok Sabha was adjourned sine die which brought the nearly two-month long Budget session to an end. The session began on January 29 and was slated to commence on April 8, but several members of the Lok Sabha had earlier requested Speaker Om Birla to end the session because of the upcoming assembly elections. Today, the Lok Sabha has been adjourned for an indefinite period by Bhartruhari Mehtab, who was in the chair.
The Rajya Sabha on Thursday passed the National Bank for Financing Infrastructure and Development (NaBFID) Bill 2021 by voice vote. The bill was earlier passed in the Lok Sabha on 23rd March. The bill aims to support the development of long-term non-recourse infrastructure financing in India including the development of the bonds and derivatives markets necessary for infrastructure financing and to carry on the business of financing infrastructure.
On Wednesday, the Rajya Sabha passed the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2021 amid uproar by Opposition. The Bill, which has already been passed by the Lok Sabha, seeks to enhance the powers of the Lieutenant Governor (L-G) of Delhi. As many as 12 Opposition parties in Rajya Sabha and nine in Lok Sabha opposed the Bill. Outside the House, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who had slammed the Bill earlier as a move to undermine his government, described its passage as a “sad day” while Deputy CM Manish Sisodia called it a “black day” for democracy.
The Joint Committee of Parliament examining the Personal Data Protection Bill was on Thursday given extension till the monsoon session to submit its report. The JCP was constituted in Lok Sabha in December 2019, and was expected to submit its report in the budget session.
Meenakashi Lekhi of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) moved a motion seeking extension up to the monsoon session of parliament for the 30-member panel to submit its report. (PTI)

BJP's Chandraprakash Joshi today asked about plans for solar energy parks near National Highway during the question hour in Lok Sabha. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that "wherever we find space we will encourage solar power."
He also said, "The first solar lane on Delhi-Meerut highway saw the panels being stolen by people. So we have had some bad experiences, but we are learning from it,".
