GUWAHATI: BJP national president JP Nadda on Tuesday released the party’s manifesto for Assam titled “Sankalpa Patra” with 10 broad commitments prominent among which are protecting the ‘civilization of Assam’, providing free education in government schools to every child and creating one lakh government jobs by March next year.
All these steps are meant to help the state take a “leap towards atmanirbhar Assam.’
Changing gears from its defensive stance in 2016 when it had promised to protect identity and land of people of the state from infiltrators from Bangladesh, BJP’s 2021 manifesto speaks about its offensive postures, which includes a promise to formulate a “deradicalistaion policy to identify and strictly quash organizations and individuals from fanning the flames of communal exclusion and separatism” for ‘strengthening of civilisation in Assam.”
