JHANSI: Hamirpur police on Thursday recovered the body of a woman, who had gone missing a month ago, from inside a borewell. Her uncle and his son have admitted to murdering her for property, police said.
As per police, the deceased, Neha, 21, had gone missing from her home on February 16 in Panchayat Kakrau village falling under police station Kurar of the district. While Neha’s father Raghuveer Yadav had passed away earlier, her mother Ramkumari had gone to Chattarpur to her parental home on the same day.
After Neha could not be traced, her uncle Mulayam, who lives in the vicinity, misled Ramkumari saying that her daughter had eloped with one Kapur Singh of the same village. As a result, Ramkumari lodged a police complaint against Kapur who went underground.
Later, during the investigation, police got some clues against Mulayam, his son Shailendra along with Randhir Singh, younger brother of Raghuveer. On sustained interrogation, Mulayam admitted to the crime and revealed that they had killed Neha on February 16 itself after her mother left for Chattarpur. After allegedly killing her, they severed her hand and stuffed the body inside the pipe of a borewell falling between Kariyapur and Kakrau covering it by a lid.
Later, they misled the mother of the deceased. They said they committed the crime for the property of Raghuveer who had died earlier.
SP Hamirpur NK Singh said, “An FIR has been filed in the case. Police have arrested two accused Mulayam and his son Shailendra and recovered the murder weapon. We are looking for the third accused, Randheer, who is absconding. The crime was committed to gain access to the family property.
