Two women face snatching on gunpoint in separate incidents in Patiala

PATIALA: Two women in Patiala district had allegedly faced snatching on a gunpoint at separate places in the city following which police had initiated a probe in the matter.
In one of the cases, police had availed a CCTV footage from the area near the crime and began the identification process of the accused involved in the crime.
The city Rajpura police have booked two unidentified persons under sections of snatching, wrongful restraint of Indian Penal Code and under sections of Arms Act on the complaint of a local resident Sarabjit Kaur.
Kaur told the police that the accused robbed her on Wednesday evening while she was returning along with her elderly mother and a minor son on a two-wheeler vehicle.
In her complaint to the police, she said that the accused snatchers stopped her scooty by overtaking their bike and then kept the gunpoint on the forehead of her son.
She added that the accused threatened her to kill the boy in case of any screams for help and then snatched her gold chain and gold bangles.
"The accused had covered their faces with handkerchiefs while one of the accused was also wearing a cap. We had availed the CCTV footage from a place near to the crime and initiated the probe. The accused are being identified. We have shared their pictures with covered faces in our groups and the case agaisnt the accused is registered under relevant sections of IPC and Arms Act," said station house officer, city, Rajpura police station
Similarly, in another case, the Sadar Patiala police have booked two unidentified persons under sections of snatching on the complaint of Rajni Bala who alleged that snatchers snatched her gold chain and gold earrings.
The victim told the police that the accused stopped her car by overtaking their bike and then snatched her ornaments on a gunpoint and fled away on Monday evening.
The police said that the complainant woman is a teacher in a school and was returning home when the incident took place.
Police said that none of the accused was arrested and no CCTV footage of the incident could be availed as there were no cameras near the crime spot.
