Imphal, March 24 2021: After weeks without any Covid casualty, a 70-year-old man succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours taking the death toll to 374 .

The man hailed from Churachandpur and he died at Shija Hospital, said Government COVID-19 Common Control Room today.

While the death toll went up up by one more, 10 people--including five males and five females--also tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.

This is the second time Manipur has recorded a double digit fresh case of infection this month.

Yesterday, the Covid Common Room had reported 13 cases.

With the 10 fresh cases, the total number of Covid positive cases has reached 29,362 while the number of active cases has risen to 53 .

The cumulative number of recovered cases on the other hand remains at 28,935 as none recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours.

The recovery rate stands at 98.54 percent.

Meanwhile, the 10 fresh infections were detected at testing facilities at JNIMS (4), Imphal West RAT (3), Babina Diagnostics (1), Mangal Life RAT (1) and Tamenglong RAT (1) .

They hail from Imphal West (3), Imphal East (2), Churachandpur (2), Kangpokpi (2) and Tamenglong (1) .

All necessary precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, said the Government report issued by Additional Director (Health), Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang.

The cumulative number of Covid positive cases is 29,362 including 25,920 civilians and 3,442 Central security personnel.

The cumulative number of recovered cases is 28,935 civilians and 3,429 Central security personnel.

The number of active cases is 53 including 44 civilians and 9 Central security personnel.

Even as the number of fresh infections has risen, as many as 1056 people were vaccinated against COVID-19 yesterday, said the report.

The cumulative number of people who have been given Covid vaccine jabs has reached 83,092 including 31,228 healthcare workers.

Meanwhile, the COVID-19 Common Control Room has informed air passengers concerned who travelled to the State on March 23 by Indigo flights 6E-2019 and 6E-6241 to inform the control room at 1800343818 or to their respective District Surveillance Officers (DSOs) .

For Indigo flight 6E-2019 (Delhi-Imphal), the passengers who should report include those who were seated in rows 1-9 and 15-21 .

For Indigo flight 6E-6241, those who were seated in row 9-15 should report, added the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
