Swedish govt looks into letting municipal councils run broadband outside their own boundaries

Swedish metro association SSNf said the government has commissioned Hakan Eriksson, councillor for municipal affairs at the Ministry of Finance, to prepare proposals for exemptions from the broadband localisation principle. This general rule means that borough councils may not run broadband operations outside their own municipal boundaries. Minister for Digitisation Anders Ygeman said such exemptions would facilitate broadband expansion.
