Hyderabad: Telangana Health Minister Etela Rajender has announced the establishment of a Basti Dawakhana in each area of 10,000 inhabitants.
The Minister of Health said during the question session that 225 bastik clinics have been set up in Hyderabad and that the state government is seriously considering expanding Basti Dawakhanas in other major cities.
Rajender said the population in the urban areas is increasing rapidly. There are many Basti Dawakhanas in Greater Hyderabad who are performing well and the public is taking full advantage of these clinics.
The Minister of Health said that the Basti Dawakhanas were instituted according to the pattern of Delhi’s Mohalla clinics and that these dawakhanas are yielding positive results.
Rajender said the prime minister, KCR, had approved 350 Basti Dawakhanas. A Basti Dawakhana is erected in any area with 10,000 inhabitants. These Dawakhanas are provided with a doctor, a staff nurse and an attendant.
The Basti Dawakhanas operate from 09:00 to 16:00. An amount of Rs 20,000 will be released monthly for the medicine in these Dawakhanas.
All the Basti Dawakhanas are affiliated with Telangana Diagnostic Center. Those who visit Basti Dawakahnas are provided with quality medical services.
Basti Dawakhanas is successful in Hyderabad and therefore the state government is seriously planning to expand its network in other districts of the state.
