Man arrested after shots fired in Duluth Heights
Mar. 25—A man is in custody after allegedly firing a weapon from a vehicle window in the Duluth Heights neighborhood early Wednesday evening.
A Duluth Police Department investigator saw the suspect shoot out of the window of a car at the intersection of Baylis Street and Pecan Avenue around 5:03 p.m. while on an unrelated surveillance detail Wednesday evening, according to a news release from the department.
After the shots were fired, the officer noticed the car going into the lower lot of Windwood Apartments. Several other officers helped make a vehicle stop at the Speedway station on the corner of Sixth Avenue East and Fourth Street.
A man and woman were interviewed. The man is in custody on weapons charges.
At the scene, officers found six shell casings. The weapon involved in the incident has also been recovered.
The incident remains under investigation and police believe that no public safety risk exists at this time.
