Haryana: Two killed, as many injured in Ambala shootout

AMBALA: Two people were killed and as many were injured after some miscreants opened fired at them when they were traveling in a car near Kalka Chowk in Haryana's Ambala City at about 12pm on Thursday.
The deceased have been identified as Pradeep alias Panja and Rahul, both residents of Chandigarh.
The injured have been identified as Ashwani Kumar Gaurav, both residents of Chandigarh.
As per the information, the four men had come to Ambala in a Verna car in connection with a court case registered against 84 accused at Baldev Nagar police station in Ambala.
The case was related to a clash between two groups inside Ambala Central Jail.
Sources said the four were returning to Chandigarh when they were attacked by armed assailants who came in a Swift car.
After firing a barrage of bullets on the Verna car, the assailants sped away from the spot.
After receiving information about the shootout, police reached the spot and started investigation.
The police sent all four injured persons to the civil hospital where the doctors declared Pradeep and Rahul dead.
Meanwhile, injured Gaurav and Ashwani were referred to Government Medical College and Hospital in Chandigarh.
Later, Ambala range inspector general (IG) Y Puran Kumar and Ambala superintendent of police (SP) Hamid Akhtar also inspected the crime spot at Kalka Chowk.
On the complaint of Ashwani, the Ambala police have registered a case against unknown persons under Section 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 302 (punishment for murder), 307 (attempt to murder), 341 (wrongful restraint) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 25-54-59 (punishment for certain offences and renewal of licenses) of the Arms Act at Ambala City police station.
SP Hamid Akhtar told TOI, “Four of our teams have gone to Chandigarh to work on this case and we are establishing the evidence as per the inputs. We have positive leads. The incident could be the fallout of a tiff between Lawrence Bishnoi and Bhuppi Rana gangs.”
