Volkswagen is working on India 2.0 strategy which consists of adding new vehicles to their line-up, opening more touchpoints and improve localization levels. Well, the manufacturer has just announced four new SUVs for the Indian market. All four SUVs will belong to different segments. The new additions to the lineup should help the manufacturer in gaining more sales.

Mr. Ashish Gupta, Brand Director,Volkswagen Passenger Cars India said,

2021 is an important year for the brand as we fulfill our promise of introducing four-new SUVs. We’ve been working relentlessly
towards strengthening our existing offerings and our upcoming products, the Taigun and Tiguan will further enhance our presence in the Indian market. The customers’ demand for different body styles is on the rise and we look forward to contributing in meeting this growing demand in India with our strong, reliable and sustainable product strategy.

Tiguan

Volkswagen Tiguan is a 5-seater SUV that used to come in the Indian market but was replaced by the Tiguan All-space which was a 7-seater version of the same SUV. We hope that it is the facelifted version of the Tiguan that is already on sale in the international markets. It will get a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine that produces 190 PS of max power and a peak torque output of 320 Nm. It will come mated to a 7-speed Dual-Clutch automatic gearbox.

Taigun

Volkswagen Taigun is a new mid-size SUV that is based on the MQB A0 IN platform that is specifically made for India. We have already seen the concept version of the Taigun at the Auto Expo 2020 and the production version will resemble a lot to the concept. Taigun is expected to be around 4.22 metres in length and will have a wheelbase of 2,651 mm. These are the same numbers as the Skoda Kushaq which was unveiled recently. This is because both the SUVs share the same underpinnings and the engine options. The Taigun will come with a 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine producing 115 PS of max power and 175 Nm of peak torque. It will be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox or 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. There will also be a 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine which will produce 150 PS of max power and a peak torque output of 250 Nm. It will be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed Dual-Clutch automatic gearbox.

T-Roc

The T-Roc was a mid-size SUV that was priced much higher because it was a CKD or Completely Knocked Down unit. Even then the SUV was sold out in just two months of its launch which was in March 2020. This has motivated the manufacturer to bring in more T-Roc’s for the Indian market. It will still be available in one fully-equipped variant but it will now be expensive than before. TheT-Roc now starts from Rs. 21.35 lakhs ex-showroom.

Tiguan Allspace

The Tiguan Allspace is the 7-seater version of the Tiguan. It was also imported for the Indian market. Now, we are expecting the manufacturer to bring in the facelifted version of the Tiguan Allspace. While both the SUVs might look very similar. There are some differences such as the Allspace is longer and taller than the standard Tiguan. However, the width of both the SUVs stay the same. It will also be powered by the 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine that produces 190 PS of max power and 320 Nm of peak torque.
