Mar. 24—State police incident reports

State police at Hazleton reported the following:

—A $250 Samsung tablet was reported stolen from a Jumbo Logistics truck on South Main Road in Dorrance Twp. on March 19.

—Lillie L. Ray, 79, Hanover Twp., was traveling on Interstate 81 south in Dorrance Twp. on March 20 around 11 a.m. when another vehicle passed her, sideswiping the Dodge Caravan she was driving in the area of mile marker 155. Ray pulled over to the side of the road but the other driver fled the area. A description of the offending driver and vehicle weren't available. Ray and her passenger, Fred L. Ray, 73, Hanover Twp., weren't injured. The Dodge sustained damage to the driver's side.

City man admits to vehicle theft

A Hazleton man found driving a stolen vehicle during a March 19 traffic stop faces charges.

Xavier Gomez, 34, was charged with a summary violation for driving with a suspended license and two counts receiving stolen property.

His bail was set at 10% of $5,000 bail March 19 by Magisterial District Judge Joseph Carmody, West Pittston.

Arrest papers state troopers stopped the red Honda Pilot he was driving north on Route 93 near Fox Manor Road, Hazle Twp., around 4:40 p.m. after learning the vehicle and registration plate were listed as stolen. Gomez admitted to the theft, troopers wrote.

Hazleton woman accused of theft from Walmart

A Hazleton woman is accused of stealing from Walmart in Hazle Twp. on Oct. 9, court papers say.

Thaeli Ciprian, 26, faces retail theft by state police at Hazleton. The case was filed against her Oct. 14 and she was released on her own recognizance March 16 by Magisterial District Judge James Dixon, Hazle Twp.

Store loss prevention workers said she scanned some items at the self-checkout but not others, resulting in her attempting to leave with $277.41 in unpaid food and household items.
