IIT Hyderabad offers spoken Sanskrit courses

Sangareddy: In order to encourage students from the Indian Institute of Technology-Hyderabad (IIT-H) to learn to speak Sanskrit, IIT-H in collaboration with Samskrita Bharati Telangana has launched a unique Sanskrit beginner-level course with a unique credit – ‘Samskritam: Sambhashana’ Praveshah ‘- from the coming academic year.

The overall vision is to hold a series of 4 or 5 Creative Arts (CA) courses at IIT-H by Samskrita Bharati in the coming days. Students of the undergraduate or graduate programs can choose these electives to learn Sanskrit in a formal and structured way.

Upon completion of these courses, students can read and understand Sanskrit texts. Although in itself it has many advantages, it can also lead to a closer collaboration and research between modern science and the ancient Indian sciences.

Examples are Chemistry / Metallurgy and Rasa shastra, Medicine and Ayurveda, Linguistics and Vyakarana and others.

Samskrita Bharathi also offers free Sanskrit courses at the faculty IIT-H.
