Hyderabad: A bank of two judges of the Telangana High Court, consisting of Chief Justice Hima Kohli and Judge B Vijaysen Reddy, ordered the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation on Wednesday to provide facilities to relocate unregistered street vendors across Charminar without disrupting development activity. An appeal has been lodged before the court against a petition filed by the Jewelers and Sarafa Association, stating that street vendors are disrupting the smooth running of the permanent stores in Charminar. The court stated that the GHMC had to keep a proper record of unregistered street vendors and resettle them so as not to restrict their freedom under the right to trade and occupation. The state government has been given permission to investigate orders regarding hawkers and since both verdicts are pending, they can be discussed at the same time. The case was adjourned until June 13.
