LUCKNOW: In the wake of rising coronavirus cases in the state and considering that people coming from outside UP may be carriers of the virus, the state government has ordered random and focussed testing in trains and at railway and bus stations. The testing has been started in trains coming from New Delhi and Maharashtra.
Health officials said vigil on people entering the UP from high burden states is already on, bus and railway stations could become the entry point for infected cases in the festive season. Therefore, while screening desks have been set up on the two access points, random and focussed testing will help in identifying asymptomatic cases, they added.
On Monday, additional chief secretary health and family welfare, Amit Mohan Prasad, had said that new cases incidence could be high in some remote districts, especially where migrant workers have returned to celebrate Holi. He had urged people to get themselves tested at the nearest health centres.
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has also directed officials to intensify focussed testing besides increasing regular testing through RT PCR method.
