'The Goldbergs' Star George Segal Dies at Age 87

George Segal, who was a staple on ABC’s The Goldbergs, has sadly passed away at the age of 87.

The longtime actor’s wife, Sonia, confirmed the sad news of his death, due to complications from bypass surgery.

“The family is devastated to announce that this morning George Segal passed away due to complications from bypass surgery,” she shared in a statement via Deadline.

George starred as Albert “Pop” Solomon on the long running ABC series, and was also known for Just Shoot Me, as well as many of his movies, including Fun with Dick and Jane, Look Who’s Talking, and A Touch of Class.

He was nominated for an Oscar in 1967 for his role in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?.

Adam F. Goldberg, the creator of The Goldbergs, paid tribute to George on social media after hearing of his death.

Melissa Joan Hart, who was a director on the show, also shared her condolences.
