Hyderabad: Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) successfully translocated 10,000 trees from the 51 km long pipeline, with the support of HMDA Urban Forestry, Telangana Government and Tree Protection Committee.
The environmental conservation exercise was done to lay an LPG pipeline along the Outer Ring Road, from Chinnagolconda to Ghatkesar, to facilitate the supply of LPG gas to different districts. A total of 98 percent of the trees and plants survived within 30 days after translocation. The team is working to revive and save the other trees, according to a press release.
The work is carried out with the necessary approvals from the Committee on Urban Forestry and Tree Protection under the supervision of the local officials of the Forest Division. B Seshachary, DGM, HPCL, said: “Tree Protection Committee inspected the site in the 127 km ORR chains on 19 March and was very pleased with the work as they provided the fresh twigs to the plants and trees. who was translocated 35 days ago. “
LCH Thirupelu Reddy, Deputy Curator of Forests (Urban Parks), Urban Forestry, visited the translocation site on 21 and 22 March, together with BM Santhosh, Managing Director, HGCL and B Prabhakar, Director, Urban Forestry and senior officials of HMDA and UF, added the press release.
