Microsoft, Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) and Teco Electric & Machinery will cooperate to promote Industry 4.0 in Taiwan by integrating Microsoft's cloud computing technology and services, CHT's ICT capability and Teco' strength in electromechanics to develop smart solutions in line with fast growing application of 5G and AIoT, according to Microsoft Taiwan.
Smart solutions to be developed cover electric machines, industrial automation products, energy management, home appliances, and smart city services, which are meant o promote enterprises' digital transformation and cybersecurity upgrading.
The three parties will also jointly develop Industry 4.0 solutions based on Microsoft Azure for the global market via Microsoft's global ecosystem.
By virtue of CHT's telecom network services and Microsoft Azure, Teco will upgrade infrastructure at its factories around the world to create 5G-based smart, automated and digital future factories.
Teco is undertaking digital transformation of its factories around the world and will further start planning for virtualization of digital infrastructure, hybrid cloud architecture, cybersecurity and other projects, company chairperson Sophia Chiu said.
For Teco, the cooperation marks the start of its MaaS (manufacturing as a service) business model.
