On March 22nd, 2021, the Government of Arunachal Pradesh introduced the ‘Dekho Apna Pradesh’ campaign. It would encourage the locals of the state to visit tourist places in and around. This campaign will boost up the domestic tourism and will help in curing the damage that was caused to the sector by COVID.
Around 1,00,000 tourists, majorly from other states, visited different places of this charming Northeast state in the year 2019-20, as per an official. Due to the pandemic, the number of visitors in the Northeast in the year 2020-21 is negligible.
The Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu, during the launch of the campaign, stated that not many people of AP explore the domestic attractions properly in the state other than those where they live and work.
He also mentioned that Arunachal Pradesh is such a huge state and there are sundry things to visit, discover and learn about other cultures, tribes, and places. This particular campaign will enthuse the locals to visit places in AP.
In the first phase of the ‘Dekho Apna Pradesh’ campaign which is also the main idea of the state Chief Minister, homestay owners as the stakeholders, hoteliers, tour operators, transporters, and travel bloggers will be exploring various tourist attractions in groups.
The Chief Minister while sharing his ideas about AP tourism, he pointed out that not even all the stakeholders, mainly the tour operators, have visited all the tourist attractions in the state. Therefore, under the first phase of the campaign, the government will be facilitating them to travel to other districts.
It will let the stakeholders to gain first-hand information of the places they visit. Also, they would get acquainted with local stakeholders and might also get good business deals.
Additionally, the state Chief Minister has requested the stakeholders to make the most from the 10-day trip and have encouraged people of their areas to explore places within the state. In this way people will become aware and will also contribute to revenue generation.
